The Negba Association Celebrates its 20th Anniversary.
The 2025–2026 school year is a very special year! Negba is celebrating 20 years of activity, support, and education. It is an opportunity to look back on the memorable moments and key milestones that have shaped Negba into what it is today.
Over the past two decades, the association has welcomed approximately 1,400 children and teenagers in Be’er Sheva, Jerusalem and Ofakim, children who have found a welcoming and supportive environment at Negba.
Creation of the Negba Association
The first three clubs for primary school children opened in Be’er Sheva, in collaboration with the French organization “Les Cigognes” (The Storks).
Founders of the association: Claude Kadouch (of blessed memory), Claude Meyer (of blessed memory), and Jean Bisseliches.
Opening of the first Teen Club
After four years of operation, at the request of the children and due to a need for programs in the city, Negba opened its first Teen Club in Be’er Sheva for ages 12 to 18.
Opening of the first Home in Jerusalem
In the Kiryat Menachem neighborhood, a Home for primary school children was opened, followed by a Teen Club and the ‘Mosaic’ program for teenage girls.
Opening of the Negba House, a center for children and the community
The building, dedicated to Caty and Mona Dreyfuss, is located in the Dalet neighborhood of Be’er Sheva.
The center houses the association’s offices, Children’s Homes, Teen Clubs, a library, a music room, a central kitchen and many other spaces.
Launch of the Alumni Program
The Negba Association continues to support its former members after high school: during their military or national service, throughout their studies, or as they enter the workforce and assists them in all aspects of their lives.
Launch of the Acting Workshop (Dror’s Smile)
The children learn acting, improvisation and how to perform on stage in front of an audience. At the end of the year, they present their show to their families, project partners, and other guests at the Be’er Sheva Theatre.
Opening of the music room and creation of the Negba musical ensemble
The Michel Bloch Music Room, located in the Negba House in Be’er Sheva, welcomes the association’s children and teenagers for music learning, instrumental practice, and singing.
The musical ensemble performs and sings at various association events.
Creation of a sustainability education program
The program, created in memory of the association’s founder Claude Meir z.l., focuses throughout the year on nature and environment-related activities, including gardening workshops, reducing paper and plastic use, energy saving, ecology, environmental responsibility, and more.
Opening of our first Home in Ofakim
In partnership with the Gefanim organization and following the events of October 7th, the association is extending its activities to Ofakim, in order to offer the children and teenagers of the city a safe and welcoming environment.
