Back-to-school preparation days

Before the arrival of the children and young people scheduled for early September, the Negba team met for 2 weeks of intensive training and preparation, in order to acquire professional tools and fully understand the objectives and functioning of the association.

Among the main topics discussed: how to encourage reading by using the library, the need to build a balanced daily program with the children and above all how to stick to it.

We also talked about the following topics:

– Bullying at school or on social networks, and how to act as an educator,

– How to monitor the personal development of each child academically, emotionally and socially, and respond to them individually,

– The importance of organizing parent-child activities to improve communication within the family,

– How to express empathy with children from the first contact, while knowing how to set limits,

– The various technical tools made available to staff, such as professional computer software, etc.

– The organization and conduct of home visits.

In addition, there were workshops to implement the annual theme on sustainable development, and how to educate children about this concept, as well as awareness of respect for the environment. All of these topics, and many more, will be covered throughout the year to encourage the team to improve its listening and action with children and their parents.

Preparation Days in Jerusalem

Alongside Beer-Sheva, the teams of the three Negba houses in Jerusalem – the Grosman House, the Mosaïque group and the H’etz Delphine Levy teenagers’ club – also followed a preparation and training program.

After discussing the association’s history, as well as Negba’s goals and program, staff discussed what it means to be a responsible adult and to be a role model for children.

We wish a lot of success to the whole team as well as to all the young people of Negba for this new school year!

Social worker workshops

During their workshops, the social workers addressed various topics such as the harmonization of expectations and teamwork, limits and authority, contact and personal monitoring of children…

Thanks to the various questions asked, sensitive and delicate subjects were raised, and the social workers were able to give clear answers as well as valuable lessons and advice that will help staff throughout the year.
