Year-end assessment commissions

Assessment commissions take place three times a year: at the beginning of the school year, in the middle, and in June. The committee is made up of one or more parents, the family social helper, a teacher or the school’s educational adviser, a representative of the municipality’s social services, as well as Negba staff: the coordinator, the animators, the social worker, the head of the study center, and the pedagogical director of the Association.

Together they discuss social, academic and emotional issues for each child. They measure the results obtained with regard to the objectives set at the beginning and in the middle of the year, the level of remedial lessons and preparation for homework, the place of the child in the group and in class, the atmosphere between children, etc.

Daniela Ravensari, director of the study center, explains: “I have been present at the assessment commissions for 5 years, including 4 years leading them. This year, I can say that there has been a significant improvement for the children. The staff’s involvement in supporting the children has done wonders. Following the damage caused by the Corona, we decided at the beginning of the year to pay even greater attention to the 3rd grade children. Indeed, these are the children who entered 1st grade in the middle of Corona. They therefore did not have time to learn much between the various confinements and the zoom courses. This end of year we are happy to see their progress and their good results. Parents and educators are also very satisfied with the significant progress noticeable in all areas: social, emotional, personal and of course school.

“The professional response adapted to each one, and provided by the monitoring and close collaboration with the parents and the school, as well as the individual attention of the coordinator, the two counslers and the remedial teachers, make all the difference compared to a class of 30 children.

“I thank all Negba staff for this teamwork. Whether in the constant search for new factors adapted to each child, for their perseverance, for their meticulous work towards the pursuit of objectives and, above all, for the great love they give to children every day.”
