We are happy to announce the opening of a new group in the Kiryat Menahem neighborhood of Jerusalem! It was at the request of the headmistress of the Guatemala School and the Municipality of Jerusalem that we created this group, which the participants named “Mosaic” because the mosaic stones are all different but, together, they constitute very beautiful works of art, just like this heterogeneous group where each one is different, unique, full of color and charm.
The team supervising this group is made up of an animator, a social worker and two young ladies in civil service. It is open three afternoons a week and will be a warm and welcoming place for eight girls in 4th and 5th grades at this school.
The first activity was a great success. Each child introduced themselves and shared something personal with the other members of the group. They took part in a collective game which aims to encourage the children to develop a dialogue and to create a space of warm and pleasant exchange.
After a good snack, they took advantage of the help of their animators to do their homework in a relaxed but nevertheless studious atmosphere. Then they met for an outdoor activity.
This day ended quite quickly but before separating, they formed a circle to share their feelings on this first meeting and also to discuss the different expectations and hopes they have in relation to future activities.
