Israel under rockets

Dear friends and partners of Negba,

For several days now Israel has been living under a rain of rockets, night and day. The south of the country is particularly affected and we have received the directive to close down our Homes to childcare. However, the teams continue to work.

So yesterday the entire Negba Beer-Sheva team met at the “Caty and Mona Dreyfuss” Center to refresh emergency procedures and plan the next few days of remote work with the children. We make daily telephone contact with the children and their parents in order to hear from them and reassure them. The staff has also been trained by our social workers and other professionals, to learn to listen and detect moments of distress during telephone conversations, as well as to reassure in the event of stress or trauma. For more complex situations, parents are referred to qualified municipal services.

Eliav Geissmann, educational director, thanked his entire team last night for their seriousness and professionalism. He added: “Today we have once again proven our resilience despite the challenges we face. I would like to thank each of you for your involvement in support of the children of Beer-Sheva, who so often find themselves in difficult situations, like the one we are experiencing these days. Despite your nights disturbed by the alerts, and the great stress that this brings, you continue to work non-stop with commitment and optimism.”

To date, in Jerusalem activities continue normally, and the almost total participation of children is to be underlined. All this is possible because the premises of Negba are very close to the missile shelters.

We thank all our friends who regularly check in on the children of Negba. Know that your support goes straight to our hearts!

While waiting for a return to calm in the country, we want to wish you good health and a very happy Shavuot holiday! Hag Sameah!
