Negba Teen Receives Excellence in Volunteering Award from Beersheva Mayor

Omer with Beersheva Mayor Ruvik Danilovich

Omer Maor, a member of Negba’s Teen Club in Beersheva, was presented by Beersheva Mayor Ruvik Danilovich with the Beersheva Municipality’s Excellence in Volunteering Award at a recent ceremony.  Maor, 17, has been a participant at Negba since grade 2, and currently is an integral part of the Teen Club’s drive to volunteer and give back to the community.

“Omer has been an excellent role model for all the children and youth at Negba,” said Nadav Elhadad, Coordinator of the Teen Club.  “He has such a strong drive to do good and help others.  His peers at the Teen Club have contracted the volunteering bug from him and now make volunteering a routine part of their week.”

The youth at Negba’s Teen Club volunteer regularly at a senior residence home, visit periodically with homebound individuals in the neighborhood near the Teen Club, and engage in other community projects.  The young children at Negba’s After-School Homes also participate in volunteer activities, since an important goal at Negba is to nurture its children and youth to be responsible individuals who contribute to society.  Omer has clearly internalized that message and taken it above and beyond.
