09/11/2014 - Project SOL (Sports and Learning) Club Commences Under Negba's Auspices in Jerusalem for 40 Children At-Risk

In July 2014 Negba formally assumed responsibility over a club for children at-risk in Jerusalem's Baka neighborhood.
Formerly under the auspices of the Greater Baka Community Council, the club was a project funded by the Levy-Willard family, also generous sponsors of Negba's Jaqueline and Jacques Levy-Willard House of Hope in Beersheva, the Franck Levy House of Hope in Beersheva, and other Negba programs. Negba agreed to the Levy-Willard family's request to take over the club and progressively transform it into a Negba House of Hope, adding the many unique Negba elements to further enrich the club and benefit the children.

Currently 40 children from grades 3 – 6 attend the club three afternoons a week for five hours, engaging in educational enrichment, cultural and sports activities. The club's unique focus on sports is due to Denis Levy's and his late son Franck's affinity for sports. Staff for the club include a coordinator- himself an athletics instructor- two counselors, two volunteer teachers. The "Beit Lazarus" Center, where the project is housed, also kindly shares the assistance of two of its national service volunteers for the project.
