07/09/2014 - Negba's Keitana Summer Camps Operate in Limited Capacity as Operation Protective Edge Continues
In the wake of the 160 rockets hitting Israel during Operation Protective Edge, Negba has had to adjust its summer activity accordingly.
In Jerusalem, Negba's programs have continued as usual.
In Beersheva, on Sunday, Negba premises lacking access to a bomb shelter were required to send its children home and suspend all activity. On Monday, all Beersheva children enjoyed trips to attractions in the Jerusalem and Tel Aviv areas and to the beach. On Tuesday, all activities were suspended under orders from the City of Beersheva.
Two previously scheduled Negba staff workshops were also held this week; the first with a professional team from Sderot to construct games for use with Negba's children to foster emotional development, and the second an intensive training session with the incoming "Sherut Leumi" young women who will perform their national service at Negba in the coming school year.
Other staff contingency plans are in place in the event that regular activity is not resumed due to security concerns.
Negba is also running activities in Beersheva's neighborhood bomb shelters, as it has done in the past.
