11/02/2014 - Christians and Jews Unite in Nice, France On Behalf of Negba's Children
This past October, Jews and Christians in the city of Nice, France gathered together for a solidarity assembly and buffet dinner to benefit Negba's children at-risk in Israel.
Participants enjoyed a concert of Psalms and Hymns performed by the choirs of the Great Synagogue of Nice and the Nice Church of the Annunciation, piano recitals by children of both congregations, and a special film about Negba and its founder, Claude Meyer.
"It's a moment of great fellowship," noted attorney Martine Vaknin, Deputy Mayor of Nice and former President of the Representative Council of French Jewish Institutions in southeast France, in her remarks at the event. "It is a breath of fresh air when you see the Christian community mobilizing for Israel."
Pastor Marie Hélène Moulin of the Nice Church of the Annunciation expressed her joy at the encounter, and for such a worthy cause. "This marks the beginning of joint activities between Christians and Jews in Nice. We will be seeing more of each other in the near future."
Negba is grateful to the event’s organizers for their show of support and friendship.
